FAQs

How much will it cost?

There’s one worry on everybody’s mind and that’s cost. However, there really isn’t a simple answer to this question. Be it a wedding cake, occasion cake or even a box of cookies, the price varies hugely dependant on size and complexity of design. A simple Victoria sponge naked cake will vary vastly from a three tiered sugar paste flower finished wedding cake, for example.

All of our cakes and bakes are bespoke, which means there cannot be a set price. There are many factors which go into pricing: size, decorations, delivery, set up, etc. It’s not as easy as saying £500 for a three tiered cake. However, we do try to cater to all budgets, so if cost is a mounting worry please let us know and we can provide a quote which fits within your budget.

If you describe what you are looking for, as well as how many guests it needs to serve, I will happily provide a free no obligation quote.

Do you deliver?

Yes, I deliver all over Scotland. For those in and around the Stirling area, I offer delivery at no additional fee. For those further afield I am happy to deliver, however this will be an additional charge based on your location or venue. I do offer collection, particularly for occasion cakes and bakes but for larger orders or more complex cakes I would recommend delivery.

For wedding cakes I will always deliver as the majority of cakes will require some set up or assembly at the venue. I don’t employ a delivery driver, and always guarantee to be on hand for set up for that personal touch. I also like to personally ensure allergy and cutting information has been handed over to the venue, and discuss anything that may need to be removed before cutting (e.g. support rods).

Delivery and/or set up fees will be included in the initial quote provided.

Can you cater for allergies?

Yes, we can. We cater to a variety of dietaries including: vegan, gluten free, nut free, dairy free and diabetic. Although be advised that all cakes are made in an environment which handles allergens and, therefore, we cannot guarantee that it will not contain trace elements.

Larger cakes, such as tiered wedding cakes, may not be able to cater to allergies or dietaries. However, I am happy to discuss making additional separate smaller cutting cakes to accommodate guests with different requirements.

In addition to larger cakes, there are also some types of confectionary which cannot accommodate dietaries, however alternatives are available.

We ask that you inform us as soon as possible about any dietaries as we want to ensure everyone can safely enjoy our sweet treats.

How big should my cake be?

Most of our occasion cakes are served as a “dessert” sized portion, which is a 1” x 2” slice. This is slightly bigger than the traditional “finger” sized portion used for fruit cake. However, it really depends on how many people you think will eat cake.

As an example, for 100 guests I would recommend a three or four tiered sponge cake. I always allow a little leeway, which means my portions are usually pretty generous.

For weddings, I would always recommend catering for around 70% of the total number of guests, if you don’t want left overs. Not everyone will have room for cake, so unless you’d like extra to freeze or keep for friends and family who couldn’t make it on the day then I would always aim lower.

Do you offer tasting sessions?

Yes, of course. Once you reach out and we have worked out if we’re a good fit, you’ll be able to book a time to meet for a tasting. This will be an opportunity for us to talk about your event and straighten out all the details. Before the tasting, a list of popular flavours will be sent to you, so that you can select four you’d like to try. This will also be an opportunity for you to put in any requests for flavours, so that when you arrive for the tasting you’ll be able to try your own unique flavours.

Once a tasting has taken place, and you’ve had the opportunity to choose from our many flavours, we ask that you kindly let us know which one(s) you’d like as soon as possible. Don’t worry if you change your mind, you can still make alterations up to two weeks before your event.

All wedding bookings automatically include a tasting session as part of your deposit. If you haven’t secured a date with us yet, but would like to come taste some of our signature flavours, please do get in touch so that we can organise a time for you to come in. The cost of these tastings is £50.

When will I have to pay?

For wedding cakes, I take a £100 deposit. This covers the administration fee for securing your date, and includes the fees for your tasting and consultation. Full payment will be due two weeks before the date of your wedding.

All other wedding orders are subject to a deposit of 10% the total cost to secure the date, with full payment required two weeks before the event.

For occasions out with weddings, the deposit depends on the time of booking. Details of this can be found below:

  • Less than 6 weeks, full amount is required to secure your date.

  • Under 3 months, 40% is due at the time of booking with the remaining 60% due 6 weeks before the event.

  • Over 3 months, 20% is due at the time of booking, with a further instalment of 40% at 3 months and the remaining 40% due 6 weeks before the event.

Need something last minute? Whilst we would prefer orders be placed in advance, if there is availability we may be able to squeeze in a last minute order depending on what it is and how long it will take. If this is the case, full payment will be required upon confirmation of the order.

Do you provide cake stands and flowers?

Yes, we can offer a wide variety of stands and artificial flowers, which you can hire for your event. Stand hire costs between £20 - £50, depending on which stand you choose. Flower hire costs vary dependant on number and style. All of our flowers are food safe, be it artificial or dried.

If you wish to have fresh flowers from your florist on your cake, there are a few important things to remember:

  • Do not use toxic flowers on your cake, make sure all flowers are food safe.

  • Do not use overly scented flowers, or flowers with long pollen stamens.

  • Make sure flowers are added to the cake in a food safe manner, which I am more than happy to do provided the florist has contacted me with the assurance that the flowers are food safe.

We also provide sugar paste flowers, which are more expensive but have the added bonus of longevity. When stored correctly sugar paste flowers can last for years!

All hire items are subject to a refundable damage deposit which you will get back as long as the items are returned to us in good condition. If items need to be collected after the event, this will be subject to an additional collection fee dependant on your location.
